From Organization Business Model to Information System: One Approach and Lessons Learned

The system ISTechnology and lessons learned of its use in the business modeling and development of information systems are analyzed in the paper. The system consists of the meta-model and applications. The meta-model enables to define a platform independent business model of the organization. The applications provide the definition and interpretation of the business model. Interpretation of the business model provides functionality of the information system in the selected platform. The lessons learned confirm that the development and maintenance cost of information systems can be significantly reduced by use of the ISTechnology.
Towards a more sustainable process industry: A single case study of restructuring within the Eyde process industry cluster

Due to increased attention on environmental issues, industrial sustainable restructuring is high on the research agenda. The article adds to the literature through an analysis of a restructuring process within a Norwegian process industry cluster. By introducing an analytical framework combining the concepts of entrepreneurial discovery process and path dependency theory, the article offers a deeper understanding of the role of various types of actors in processes of restructuring. The authors categorise the actors as either firm-level entrepreneurs or system-level entrepreneurs on the basis of their motivation. Despite the importance of process modelling for business process management and related tasks, there are few theories and empirical studies of process-modelling practice available that can serve as the basis for understanding and improving this important practice. To contribute to the development of better theory, this paper proposes a model of process modelling practice, focussing on the relations between process modelling purpose, process modelling process, model artefact, process modelling outcome as well as initial and eventual modelling and process maturity. Business Process Models and Information System Usability

Abstract The paper describes the use of business process models for effective managing of information system execution processes and transparent representation of execution statuses. Contrary to traditional approaches where business process models are used only in the initial stages of information system development, the proposed approach suggests direct utilization of business process models during the use of information systems. Information system usability can be improved by using new means of representation, and business process models can serve as an efficient way to visualize execution processes in information systems.
Extracting string motif bases for quorum higher than two

Bases of generators of motifs consisting of strings in which some positions can be occupied by a don’t care provide a useful conceptual tool for their description and a way to reduce the time and space involved in the discovery process. In the last few years, a few algorithms have been proposed for the extraction of a basis, building in large part on combinatorial properties of strings and their autocorrelations.
